Bionic Germ (増殖性細胞 Zōshokusei Saibō?) is the first stage in Salamander, Life Force (referred to as the "Stomach Muscle Zone" in this game), and Salamander III.

Overview

Salamander

It is also known as the "Organic Region", and rightfully so, as the area has odd pink growth everywhere, as well as living blue growth which can be seen in the background. Arms emerge from the pink growth, and the pink growth can also elevate itself, which can hit the Vic Viper if not careful, or merge together and block his path. Eventually, the player also has to shoot through some organic wall, eventually reaching a chunk of pink growth which goes away, revealing the Brain Golem.

Life Force

In Life Force, the stage is largely left unchanged, the only difference being the background. It's changed from the blue lines to a background that more so resembles the pink growth, to give it more of a feel that you're flying inside a giant creature.

Salamander III

Returning as the first stage as the "Organic Region", its pink growth has been evolved into greater scale, but this time, Bacterian mechanical units now inhabit the region, along with several Hatches and Moai statues filled within it, Sharp Crosses have returned, however, they can now be destroyed alongside with its cavities or remains within it. There are still growing cell walls in the area, they cannot regenerate, and you can clear them off. There are no Death Hands or any other living Cell membranes in the stage. Golem, who's' in stasis or incomplete can be seen there. However... a new boss in the form of a new Big Core awaits behind...

In loops 2 and beyond, the growing cell walls have regained their ability to regenerate and a regenerating variant of the Sharp Cross was added to mimic the original behavior in Salamander while remaining vulnerable to the player's weapons.
