- Not to be confused with Intruder.
The Fire Dragon (ファイヤードラゴン Faiyā Doragon) is a recurring enemy in the Gradius series.
Description
Fire Dragons originally appeared in Gradius II. They look like wyrms made of pure fire. They are spawned from the artificial suns and move erratically, sometimes tracking down the Vic Viper and circling around it. They spew flaming rocks from their mouths, which can be destroyed, and will sometimes drop Power Capsules.
In the NES version of Life Force, a similar enemy stops the screen scrolling until it is destroyed.

Trivia
- The Fire Dragon has made several cameo appearances throughout numerous Konami games:
- In the Game Boy Advance game Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: Battle Nexus, the Ultimate Ninja summons one long Fire Dragon for a boss stage. This Fire Dragon has a pattern of bouncing around surfaces and occasionally performing a loop. when damaged enough, it then bounces around the stages with the occasional loop. Before its defeat, it splits apart into three smaller Fire Dragon that follow phase 2's pattern. In the fight with the Ultimate Ninja, he fires three mid-length Fire Dragon that simply bounce around surfaces.
- In Contra: Operation Galuga, several characters can summon a Fire Dragon as one of their weapon overload attacks.
